By Ray Ampoloquio · Sep 20, 2026 Updated by Matt Gibbs · Sep 21, 2026 The GTA 6 album Rockstar announced was described on a distributor's earnings call in May, a reminder that big details can hide in plain sight.

Zoom image: Alliance Entertainment's CEO described the GTA 6 album on a May earnings call, four months before the reveal. The Grand Theft Auto VI album that Rockstar Games formally announced in September was sitting in plain sight four months earlier and apparently went unnoticed. Back in May, the CEO of a physical media distributor laid out the whole thing on an earnings call, long before the official reveal, which just goes to show that the most dedicated Grand Theft Auto fans can still leave stones unturned in their search for the next big reveal.

Jeff Walker, CEO of Alliance Entertainment, was talking up his company's upcoming quarter on the May 14 call when he got to GTA 6 . He called it "a home run for Q4," then mentioned something most people had not heard yet. A GTA soundtrack was coming in November, with 20-plus songs, one from each of a lineup of A-list artists , a mix of in-game tracks and extra ones and a vinyl release to go with it.

The description matched what we're getting to a T. Everything Walker described lines up with the GTA 6: The Album that Rockstar revealed, including the November release, a roster of A-list artists, tracks from inside and outside the game and multiple vinyl editions. The only thing that changed was the soundtrack count, from his "20+" to the confirmed 34.

His comments were public the whole time, buried in an earnings transcript .

What the CEO revealed in May vs the September announcement

The distributor CEO's May comments lined up closely with the official reveal.

Even with an army of GTA 6 sleuths dissecting every frame , trademark and job listing with some even camping outside of Rockstar North and measuring oxygen levels , an extensive soundtrack preview slipped out on a distributor's earnings call and sat there for four months unnoticed for work that took two years to complete . Perhaps this just proves that the details fans are chasing are not always where they are looking. Sometimes they are in a financial filing nobody thought to check.

It also raises a fair question. What else is out there that no one has connected yet? Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive do business with a lot of partners, distributors, labels and retailers, any of which can say more than they mean to on a call or in a filing.

If a soundtrack this big can hide in plain sight for four months, other GTA 6 details could be out there right now, waiting for their debut.

With a game this scrutinized whose marketing has grown beyond the usual confines of what you'd usually expect of a video game, the biggest surprises are not always hidden by Rockstar. Sometimes they are just hiding where fans forgot to look.
